We are committed to providing a sustainable and responsible solution that aligns with our city’s environmental goals.
We look forward to partnering with businesses and cities to successfully transition to compostable bags, fostering a cleaner and healthier future for our community.
We believe in complete transparency and acknowledge the following potential considerations:
Benefits for everyone who cares about nature
Composed of corn starch and completely biodegradable when composted
Our bags break down into nutrient-rich compost, which can enrich soil and support healthy ecosystems.
Reduce plastic waste
Our bags are designed to decompose in composting environments, diverting waste from landfills and reducing plastic pollution.
Supports a Circular Economy: by choosing compostable bags, our city actively participates in a circular economy, where waste is transformed into valuable resources.
Contribution to the city's sustainability
Lower carbon footprint
The production of our bags results in a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to conventional plastic bags.
Renewable resources
Utilizing corn starch and PLA promotes the use of renewable resources, lessening our dependence on finite fossil fuels.

Our bags are crafted from a carefully selected blend of plant-based and biodegradable materials:
A renewable resource, corn starch provides a natural base for the bags, ensuring a reduced reliance on fossil fuels.
Corn Starch:
Polylactic Acid (PLA):
Derived from fermented plant sugars, PLA offers excellent compostability and further minimizes our environmental footprint.
A biodegradable copolymer, PBAT provides the necessary flexibility and durability, ensuring our bags perform effectively in everyday use.
Polybutylene Adipate Terephthalate (PBAT):

Optimal composting requires specific conditions, including adequate temperature and moisture. While our bags are designed to biodegrade, home composting may vary in effectiveness. Industrial composting facilities provide the optimal environment for degradation.
Degradation Conditions:
PBAT Degradation Byproducts:
While PBAT is biodegradable, research is ongoing regarding the potential toxicity of its degradation byproducts. We are committed to staying informed about the latest scientific findings and supporting the development of even more sustainable materials.
It is important to ensure that the composting stream is not contaminated with non-compostable materials. Public education about proper composting procedures is important.
Potential for Contamination:
Cost Considerations:
While the initial cost of compostable bags may be slightly higher than traditional plastic bags, the long-term environmental and economic benefits outweigh the initial investment.

Hello! We are Valeria Tsoy and Matthew Chambers — a Vancouver Family and the creators of DOG NATURE.
It all started with Coco.
How and why our brand was founded:
In 2015, we welcomed Coco, our rescue dog, into our family. She quickly became an essential part of our lives, especially for our youngest daughter, earning the cherished nickname 'Nanny Coco.'
A Problem We Couldn’t Ignore.
Like so many Vancouverites, we adore our dogs. However, we began to notice the sheer volume of plastic dog waste bags we were using, and it really gave us pause. Knowing that a significant portion of Vancouver’s population are dog owners, we started to look into the numbers. The potential waste generated was frankly, staggering — a projected 72 tons of plastic waste annually ending up in our landfills.
The Birth of an Idea.
That’s when the idea really took hold. We decided to create eco-friendly dog waste bags that weren’t just functional, but also thoughtfully designed. We wanted to offer a product that dog owners could feel good about using. Our bags, with their distinctive orange hue, serve as a subtle, yet visible symbol of our shared commitment. It’s a way for fellow dog owners to recognize each other from across the park, a silent nod of understanding and shared responsibility.
Making a Difference Together.
By choosing our bags, dog parents can confidently contribute to a healthier environment while enjoying the simple joys of time spent with their pets. We’re aiming to make a real, tangible difference in our city, one walk at a time.
